DWP Christmas bonus payments

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is set to bring a little festive cheer to millions of households with the announcement of a special Christmas Bonus payment.

Beneficiaries should keep an eye on their bank accounts in the coming weeks for this welcome addition. As the festive season approaches, pensioners and individuals receiving certain benefits can expect a £100 boost from the government, aimed at providing additional support during the holiday period.

It's been confirmed by the Government that beneficiaries will find this sum added to their bank accounts "before Christmas". Those eligible for this seasonal gesture are anticipated to have the bonus credited to their accounts early or midway through December, ensuring it's available in time for Christmas spending

There is no need for any action from the recipients; the bonus will be paid automatically to those qualifying for the scheme. To be in line for the Christmas Bonus, individuals must be in receipt of qualifying benefits such as Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Disability Living Allowance, or Carer's Allowance during the first full week of December.

The Government said: "The Christmas Bonus is a one-off tax-free £10 payment made before Christmas, paid to people who get certain benefits in the qualifying week. This is normally the first full week of December.

"You do not need to claim - you should get paid automatically. If you think you should get it, but have not by January 1, contact the Jobcentre Plus office that deals with your payments or the Pension Service."

There have been calls for the Christmas Bonus amount to be increased over recent years, amid claims the £10 payment makes little difference to most people. The amount has not risen for years despite increases to inflation and the cost of daily essentials in that time.
