England have beaten Chile 71-0 in their World Cup Pool D match in Lille.
Owen Farrell returned from his red-card ban alongside 12 other changes, including Marcus Smith at full back, who was brilliant as he scored two tries and created much more. Theo Dan also scored two tries but wing Henry Arundell was the star of the show, scoring five tries to equal an England record.
Chile also lost their first two matches in what is their first Rugby World Cup and currently sit 22nd in the world rankings compared to England’s sixth. They are currently at the bottom of Pool D with zero points.

After a slow start, England scored 11 tries and secured their biggest win for 20 years in a thrashing of Chile. Henry Arundell scored five tries and Marcus Smith and Theo Dan both got two.

80 min: England’s 11th try is scored by Jack Willis after being teed up by Stuart with a clever offload and he charges under the posts. Farrell kicks the two extras, and that’s that.

Smith starts the attack with a brilliant line-break, and it’s his jinking feet that secure the try a minute later with a short dart over the line. Farrell makes this more simple kick. Smith has been brilliant.

73 min: Lots for Steve Borthwick to think about in the days ahead. It may ‘only’ be Chile but Arundell has scored five tries and Smith has been inspirational at times. A lot depends on England’s style of play going forwards, and whether Borthwick decides to loosen the shackles in an attacking sense. The oddest part of this performance for England is that Owen Farrell will probably leave the field in a bit of a huff, having missed several kicks.

71 min: No player has ever scored six tries in a test match for England, incidentally...

69 min: Jack Willis wins a turnover and England go on the attack. They work it right where Smith joins the attacking line once more and darts through a gap. He could probably score himself but selflessly flings a pass to Arundell for try No 5 on his World Cup debut. Farrell drags his kick wide from the touchline.

67 min: Chile rebuild again but they are now back in their own half. England, and the game as a whole, has lost some flow and momentum as a result of the many replacements, and perhaps the lop-sided scoreboard too.

64 min: Chile are on the attack, now trying to roll a maul through England’s defence from a lineout... but England defend stoutly and the whistle blows. Scrum to England.

60 min: What a World Cup debut this is by Henry Arundell! Ford launches a pass to the right wing where Arundell sets off once more. This time he has a lot more work to do but he does it brilliantly and creatively, kicking over the full back’s head and collecting the bouncing ball on the try line before rolling over the line. Four tries, now. Farrell adds two more.

From our reporter Harry Latham-Coyle in Lille:
This is starting to get ugly for Chile. England, after those couple of early missed chances, have been accurate and clinical and just have too much athleticism for their overmatched opponents.
George Ford is on for Elliot Daly, meaning England have Ford, Owen Farrell and Marcus Smith all on together for the first time. It will probably have little bearing on the final scoreline here but how the trio combine is worth watching as Steve Borthwick ponders his playmaking options for the matches to come.
