Thousands in County Still Without Power After Overnight Breakdown

A major power breakdown in the ESB supply has left approximately 7,500 households and businesses in County Mayo without electricity today. The most heavily impacted area is Erris in North Mayo, where 10,000 customers have been without power since midnight last night.

ESB spokesperson informed Midwest News that the outage resulted from a significant issue that occurred at the Cumgill 110KV station at midnight. Repair crews have been working diligently throughout the night and continue their efforts today to fix the fault. The ESB hopes to have power restored to most affected areas by 4pm this afternoon.

While the towns of Belmullet, Bangor Erris, and Crossmolina are experiencing the greatest impact, approximately 200 households in the Ballyhaunis area are also without power. Restoration is estimated to take place by 1pm in Ballyhaunis. Additionally, power outages occurred in certain parts of Ardnaree in Ballina, but have since been resolved.
