Ninth year Jack and Sarah Corbett have to spend Father's Day ...

THIS IS the ninth Father’s Day that Jason Corbett’s children Jack and Sarah have to spend without their beloved dad.

A post on the Jason’s Journey social media accounts this Sunday morning said the siblings will "never spend it with their father again".

It states that Tom and Molly Martens, convicted of the voluntary manslaughter of the 39-year-old Limerick man, can spend Father’s Day together after their early release from custody this month.

Tom and Molly Martens successfully appealed against their 2017 convictions for the second-degree murder of widower Mr Corbett when they were sentenced to between 20 and 25 years in prison.

The pair never denied killing Mr Corbett, but insisted they had acted in self-defence on the night of August 2, 2015. This has been completely rejected by the Corbett family who say, "We know the truth, they know the truth".

They served four years and three months in prison.

The post this morning says that Tom and Molly Martens have only missed four Father’s Days together.

“The whole injustice of this must be unbearable for Jason’s children. So as the Martens sit around their table this Father’s Day - what will they share? Prison stories? 

“Or maybe behind closed doors they will discuss the truth of that night? Maybe the horrors they inflicted on Jason, a loving father, will haunt them. Maybe the resentments are starting to kick in,” reads the post on Jason’s Journey.
