Niklas Füllkrug ecstatic with Germany's drubbing of Scotland

Germany ran out emphatic winners in its 5-1 victory over Scotland to open EURO 2024, with Borussia Dortmund striker Niklas Füllkrug playing a key role in the second half.

Füllkrug may have only taken to the pitch in the 63rd minute, but he made sure his impact was felt as he scored just five minutes after his introduction to the match and had a second ruled out for offside not ten minutes later.

Captured via @iMiaSanMia, Füllkrug broke down the goal that did stand, explaining his excellent top-corner strike saying, “It was instinctive. I had a good first touch, I didn’t think a lot and just took the shot.”

The 31-year-old hitman provided further match analysis, stating, “We started well, we had a lot of possession. Things got better as the game went on. We had a lot of energy, many good deep runs. I think over 90 minutes we fully deserved to win the game, although Scotland were down to 10 men for a long time. The atmosphere was incredible, of course we noticed since we arrived at the stadium. It was exactly the start we wanted.”

Germany played incredibly well on the night— hopefully, Füllkrug and the rest of the squad can replicate this level of performance throughout the tournament.
