Gardaí release images of 99 'persons of interests' connected to ...
Gardaí have released CCTV images of 99 people they want to identify in connection with the riots in Dublin on November 23, 2023.
A team of more than 50 gardaí has reviewed over 17,000 hours of CCTV footage.
This analysis has identified 99 "persons of interest", who gardaí need to interview to either include or exclude them from the investigation.
They are now asking for public help to identify the individuals whose images have been posted on the garda website.
Speaking at a press conference Chief Superintendent Patrick McMenamin said the serious rioting last November left "many traumatised" and 13 gardaí injured and resulted in "significant reputational damage for the city of Dublin".
He asked people to look at the images of 99 people uploaded onto the Garda website who were present in city centre on 23 November and who played a role in the events that night.
The Garda website provides people with an online tool, a "feedback form", to enter information and even suggest a name, which they can submit.
This is the first time gardaí has used this online tool in an investigation.
Gardaí have conducted a data impact assessment on releasing the photographs.
Chief Supt McMenamin also encouraged anyone who sees themselves in the images to contact gardaí and they can be ruled in, or out, of the investigation.
Asked why the Garda investigation was continuing a year on, compared to the speed of similar police investigations in Southport, England, Chief Supt McMenamin said they have to work with the legislation in Ireland.
The riots, which lasted from 4pm to midnight, caused serious damage and disruption in the North and South Inner City.
Over the course of the evening:
