IRISH pop star Gavin James has made a huge career change after becoming the new owner of an iconic Dublin pub.

The Dublin native, well-known for his hit tunes Nervous and Always, has become the proprietor of Doyle's Corner bar in Phibsborough.

Gavin has become the latest celebrity publican by snatching up the northside bar, which dates back as far as 1873.

The beloved establishment, which is renowned for its incredible atmosphere and history, will undergo a major transformation under the new ownership of the musician.

The 33-year-old has told how he is eager to bring his passion for music and community into the venue.

Speaking to Sunday World, the Irish star said: "I've always loved this pub.

"It’s got so much character and a fantastic vibe. I can’t wait to bring some new life to it and create an even more enjoyable experience for everyone."

The songwriter plans to host regular gigs, open mic nights, and special events that emerging talent can get themselves involved in.

The Irish chart-topper added: "It's all about community. I want to create a space where people can come together, enjoy great music, and support local artists.

"Dublin has an incredible music culture, and I’m excited to be a part of it."

As James takes over the reins, he plans to renovate and refresh the venue, while maintaining its iconic features.

He continued: “I want to create an environment that feels both familiar and new. It’s important to respect the history while also looking forward."

The Stoneybatter native hosted the official opening of the pub on Wednesday night where he pulled pints for customers and performed some of his biggest tunes in a once-off set.

So, if you're a fan of the hit-maker and want to grab yourself a pint this Wednesday night, you know the place to be.

Gavin first arrived on the music scene in 2012 after he independently released his EP entitled Say Hello and it went viral in Ireland.

That track ended up winning Song of the Year at the 2013 Meteor Choice Music Prize Awards.

A year later Gavin signed with the music label Capitol Records, who also work with Katy Perry and Sir Paul McCartney.

James became a household name when he released his studio album Bitter Pill which debuted at number 5 on the Irish charts.

In October 2017, James released the lead single Hearts On Fire from his second album. It became his first major hit across Europe and in Brazil.

Since then, the star released his third album The Sweetest Part which reached #1 on the Irish Recorded Music Association.
