Minister for Finance, Jack Chambers, visited Gorey on the evening of Friday, November 1, to launch the general election campaign of Senator Malcolm Byrne.

While in the area, Minister Chambers went canvassing at some houses with Senator Byrne and local councillors Donal Kenny and Joe Sullivan.

Minister Chambers has been to Gorey on a number of occasions, including when he was Sports Minister and as he regularly holidayed in Cahore as a child.

Minister Chambers launched Senator Byrne’s campaign for the general election this month in a packed Leinster suite in the Ashdown Park Hotel and said: “Malcolm is an intelligent and articulate member of the Parliamentary Party who significantly contributes to policy discussion but also advocates for the needs of communities in north Wexford and south Wicklow.”

While canvassing, the Minister and Senator listened to many concerns on a number of doors around Gorey and were lucky enough to meet triplets Holly, Heidi and Heather.

Senator Byrne has two sets of triplet cousins and there was discussion about support for families with multiple births. Senator Byrne thanked his friend and colleague, Minister Chambers and all those involved in the campaign to date.
