A Green Day band member dropped into a Temple Bar chipper ahead of the band’s Dublin gig tonight.

The platinum-selling punk rock band play Marlay Park on Thursday, June 27, and guitarist Jason White was spotted in Leo Burdock’s on Crown Alley.

Sharing a picture of the encounter on social media, Leo Burdock’s staff said: “Love to have @greenday @jasonwhiteguitarish popped by Temple Bar store.”

The band will take to the stage at Marlay Park in Rathfarnham as part of their Saviours Tour. Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong and bass player Mike Dirnt were just 16 when Green Day were discovered in the East Bay area of San Francisco.

They went on to sell more than 20 million copies of their breakthrough album Dookie and 16 million copies of American Idiot.

The name of their tour is also the title of their most recent album, Saviours, the cover of which features an edited photo taken on the Falls Road in Belfast during the Troubles in the late 1970s.

This isn’t the only famous person the popular Dublin takeaway chain have had in recent times, with The Boss, Bruce Springsteen, also dropping in to say hello last month.
