Harrison Ford has revealed the reason he’s still actively acting – see what he had to say below.

In a new chat with Vanity Fair, Ford was asked what he’s getting out of acting that’s kept him out of retirement. He replied to the publication: “Oh man, I get out of it essential human contact. I get to imagine with people that have great skill and experience… It’s fun to work with these people.”

Elsewhere during the chat, Ford reflected on playing Han Solo and why the character resonated with viewers: “He was a character that was committed to his ignorance. Deeply committed to his ignorance. But if he had been lacking in a sense of humor, it would not have been fun for the audience. I saw that [run] as physical acting that got character information across. I always felt that he was barely containing his physical impulses.”

Earlier this month, the veteran actor revealed that before acting, he had tried his hand at working as a chef “for relatively short periods of time, until they found out about me and fired me”.

“My first job was I cooked at a hospital. I don’t know what I told them but they gave me a knife and a bunch of carrots, and I cut this part of my finger off within minutes,” he explained. “But the sew-your-finger-back-on department was right down the hall, and right after that was where they fire you for lying about [his cooking skills].”

The actor is set to appear in the second season of Shrinking, which is set to drop on Apple+ this Wednesday (October 16).

Reviewing season one in 2023, NME awarded the show two stars, with Ralph Jones writing: “In episode eight, the penultimate of the series, suddenly the jokes start landing and the drama starts working. It’s a welcome relief. But “stick with it for seven episodes then you get a few laughs” isn’t much of a recommendation, is it?”

Elsewhere, Ford recently claimed that he acts like “an idiot for money” in the upcoming Marvel movie Captain America: Brave New World.

When asked how he prepared for the role, he replied: “It took not caring. It took being an idiot for money, which I’ve done before.” It is due to be released in cinemas on February 14, 2025.
