Henry Shefflin

HENRY Shefflin has stepped down as Galway senior hurling team manager in a move which comes as no surprise.

After three years in charge of the Tribesmen, the Kilkenny legend has cut his losses after a disappointing tenure at the helm.

Falling to emerge from Leinster this year was the final straw as Shefflin failed to deliver any league or championship silverware since his shock move West in the winter of 2021.

With a major upheaval of the county squad required and the prospect of starting all over again, the odds were always on Shefflin calling time on his Galway sideline role.

Galway GAA Chairperson Paul Bellew confirmed the departure yesterday afternoon, and said that a process to appoint the next Galway Senior Hurling Manager will be put in place shortly.
