Ireland AM viewers could be in for a wild ride this week as the show breaks new ground.

The Virgin Media programme is attempting to make history as the 'world's first AI morning show'.

Speaking in a video recorded on set, former rugby star Tommy said: 'Hi, it's Tommy and Muireann here from Ireland Ai M. Yes, we've got an exciting show coming up this Thursday.'

Muireann elaborated on the show format, saying: 'It is completely and utterly directed, researched and produced by artificial intelligence. Yes, everything that's going to happen on the show is completely decided by the robots.

'So if you thought we were robotic before... Oh my God, Thursday morning Tommy,' she continued before Tommy jumped in saying: 'We're going to take it to a whole new level.'

They then gave their best robotic impressions. Tommy shared the post and asked: 'Are we gonna be out of our jobs by Friday?'

He continued: 'Ireland AI M tomorrow. We're the first ever live show to be completely directed by AI for 3 hours... guests, scripts, questions, graphics... the whole lot! It's gonna be weird but gonna be fun!'

There has been a shake-up in the presenting format recently too. Karen Koster made a surprise Ireland AM presenting appearance only weeks after her shock departure from the station.
