It finally feels like summer as most of Ireland is enjoying a week of consistently warm and bright conditions, with today expected to stand out as a particularly pleasant day.
Since May, sun lovers have struggled to find an extended spell of reliable summer weather, fluctuating between umbrellas and sun cream as they leave the house.
But today, Wednesday 31 July, is certainly a day for the latter as Met Eireann expects it to be one of the hottest days of the year.

With just isolated showers forecast, today is set to be a warm and largely dry day with temperatures potentially reaching highs of 25C. This comes as the south of England experiences heatwave conditions and a number of weather warnings come into place for Spain.
It will be cooler today along Irish coasts, with sea breezes developing, and some patchy rain could arrive this evening after cloud builds from the west.
Tomorrow won't be as nice a day as it is forecast to start with some cloud and patchy drizzle in the morning, though it will dry up into the afternoon, when some spells of sunshine are forecast in highs of between 19C and 23C.
Friday will be a similar day in that cloudy and wet conditions are forecast for the morning, with a near-identical temperature range of between 17C and 23C.
There will be a major swing into the Bank Holiday weekend, unfortunately, as temperatures could potentially drop to as low as 16C on Saturday, with a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers. It will be a much cooler night, with showers persisting in western and northern counties.
Sunday will be a mainly cloudy day with spells of rain over the northern half of Ireland as the south experiences showery conditions in highs of 15C to 19C.
