Irish weather: Bring your coat for the commute – as Met Éireann ...
Scattered showers are forecast today
Today will bring a mix of cloud and sunny spells with passing showers.
They will be most frequent across Ulster and Leinster, with Met Éireann saying some will be “heavy or prolonged” with the “chance of lightning later”.
It may be time to start bringing a jacket on your morning commute as it will be cool for early September with highs of 13 to 16 degrees, following a cold start.
And heavy thundery showers will mainly affect eastern counties this evening, Met Éireann has warned.
Tonight the showers will become isolated but mist and fog will develop locally. It will be cold tonight, with temperatures dropping to 7 to 11 degrees.
Thursday will be a predominantly dry day with sunny spells across the western half of the country and somewhat cloudier skies elsewhere.
During the evening, showery rain will begin to feed into east and southeast areas.
7 Day Weather Forecast: Monday 2nd - Sunday 8th September
It will be much warmer however, with highs of 17 to 20 degrees, warmest further west, dropping to 12 to 15 degrees overnight.
It will be warm and humid on Friday with spells of sunshine.
However, thundery rain will possibly affect southern counties, especially coastal areas.
Temperatures will soar to 25 degrees, but it will be quite humid.
It will also be warm overnight, with the chance of thunderstorms across southern and eastern areas.
There will be some fog in places too, with lows of 12 to 16 degrees.
On the weekend, Met Éireann said: “Some further thundery rain across southern and eastern counties with mostly dry conditions for the rest of the country.”
"Warmer and drier on Saturday with values in the low to mid twenties. Fresher conditions will feed into north and northwest areas on Sunday.”
