Met Eireann have issued a forecast update this week as an 'anticyclonic wave breaking' indicates a major shift for Irish weather.
A 'high latitude jet stream' as well as a negative East Atlantic pattern have been observed by weather experts who have said it indicates a big shift to a winter seasonal outlook.
Meteorologist at 3bmeteo Frans Nucera reported that these changes mean that the weather turn could be on its way very soon.
In a new update they said: "High-latitude jet stream, anticyclonic wave breaking, and negative East Atlantic pattern: are these the characteristics of the upcoming winter seasonal outlook?"
Meanwhile graphics of the latest weather models show that "colder air is returning very soon after the weekend".
According to Met Eireann, the cold front is set to take a break from Thursday to Sunday, when temperatures will rise to 12C.
However, colder climes will return by Monday as temperatures slide back to 8C.
Here is the forecast for the next few days according to Met Eireann:
Today
Dry and sunny for most. However, there'll still be a few isolated showers, mainly in coastal parts. Highest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees with light variable breezes.
Tonight
Mainly dry tonight apart from a few coastal showers in the north. Frost and patches of mist and fog developing in many areas. Lowest temperatures of -3 to +2 degrees in mostly light variable breezes.
Tomorrow
A largely dry and bright day with just some isolated showers early on in parts of the north. Highest temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees in mostly light northerly or variable breezes.
