Ivan Toney has been left out of Brentford's squad for their Premier League opener at home to Crysta Palace with manager Thomas Frank saying speculation about a possible move for the striker was a major factor behind the decision.

Brentford striker Toney has been linked with moves to several English clubs this summer as well as a switch to the Saudi Pro League.

Frank told Sky Sports: "There are a lot of things going on with Ivan [Toney], especially with transfers, there's a lot of transfer interest. Because of all that, we've decided not to include him in the squad."

Asked if Toney has already played his last match for Brentford, Frank said: "Who knows? There is interest, it's not close."

The 28-year-old has scored 67 league goals in 128 games since joining Brentford from Peterborough United in 2020.

In other transfer news, Leicester have reached an agreement with Tottenham over the signing of midfielder Oliver Skipp, the PA news agency understands.

Skipp has been keen to secure a move away from Spurs in search of regular football after he only had a bit-part role under Ange Postecoglou last season.

Newly-promoted Leicester were among a host of clubs vying for Skipp's signature and have moved to bring him to the King Power Stadium.

Skipp is set for a Leicester medical on Sunday with a deal expected to be completed before Monday's Premier League opener at home to Tottenham, PA understands.

Spurs academy graduate Skipp made his professional debut in 2018 when still a teenager and will depart his boyhood club after 106 appearances.

The 23-year-old will become the seventh summer arrival under new Leicester boss Steve Cooper, but will not be registered in time to feature in Monday's match with Spurs.
