James Nesbitt on co-parenting girlfriend's toddler aged 60

James Nesbitt has embraced his modern family set-up as he is co-parenting his girlfriend's two-year-old daughter, saying she is a 'big part of his life'.

The actor, who is turning 60 next year, is in a relationship with Katy Gleadhill who concieved her daughter, Fiadh, with another man during a two-year break from their relationship as she wanted to start a family before turning 40.

James was reportedly understanding about the situation and has since stepped up and is now helping Katy to raise the daughter she welcomed during their split.

He addressed being a father to the toddler in a recent interview with the Irish Independent, explaining she was one of the reasons he took a break from acting, saying: 'There is a two-year-old girl in my life who I'm co-parenting and wanted to spend time with.

'I'm co-parenting ­Fiadh and she's wonderful. She really is tremendous... I didn't expect that to be happening at my age - but she is a big, big part of my life now.'

He said that being around a young child again was refreshing saying it was an 'extraordinary privilege and immense responsibility' to bring up a child.

James and Katy got back together in 2023 after a two-year break from their relationship. The couple went their separate ways in 2021 after first being linked together since 2015 but things are now back on track with their relationship.

The Bloodlands actor has two adult daughters from his former marriage to Sonia Forbes-Adams who are now adults themselves; Peggy, 27, and Mary, 23.
