Singer Justin Timberlake arrested on Long Island

Timberlake was reportedly arrested while driving on Long Island.

Justin Timberlake was taken into custody for 'driving while intoxicated' according to TMZ.

A rep for the Sag Harbor Police Department told the outlet that the singer is currently in custody at their station. 

However TMZ has confirmed he was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

The department is expected to release a formal statement later today.

Timberlake is due to perform two shows in Chicago this week before two shows at Madison Square Garden in New York next week.

The singer, who is often referred to as the 'Prince of Pop' is married to actress Jessica Biel, having tied the knot in 2012.
