The Princess of Wales called upon one of her favourite designers, Alexander McQueen, for her white gown for King Charles's Coronation at Westminster Abbey. Kate Middleton, 41, was at her radiant best in the gown, which features embroidery that nods to the four nations of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. It proved a poignant choice – the same flowers were also embroidered in the Sarah Burton-designed wedding dress she wore to her 2011 royal wedding.

Today's Alexander McQueen gown is an ivory silk crepe creation with silver bullion and thread work embroidery featuring rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock motifs, with the Royal Victorian Order Mantle. The Princess is wearing a Jess Collett x Alexander McQueen Headpiece with silver bullion, crystal and silver thread work three-dimensional leaf embroidery. In a touching moment, it matched the outfit worn by her daughter, Princess Charlotte.

However, mother and daughter had one point of difference: the Princess of Wales's was draped beneath the Royal Victorian Order Mantle. She was appointed a Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order by Queen Elizabeth II in 2019. The Princess paid tribute to Princess Diana with her pearl and diamond earrings.
