Kayleigh Trappe reveals 'worst part' of 2FM rumours
Kayleigh Trappe felt she 'let people down' after rumours about 2FM job
Kayleigh Trappe has said she was left feeling awkward after news spread that she was going to replace Lottie Ryan as a radio host on 2FM.
Speaking weeks after the claims circulated, the Monaghan woman debunked talk that she was set to join the national broadcaster, saying: 'It's not true'.
She explained that the 'worst part' of the ordeal was having to break the news to the floods of congratulators which included some famous faces.
'The worst part was the congratulations messages coming in from everyone', Kayleigh told the 2 Johnnies on their podcast.
'Tommy Bowe sent me this big poem of congratulations – do it for Monaghan, we’re delighted for you. I was like, ‘Oh my God!’ I felt like I let them all down now!', the former primary school teacher said.
In June, news spread that Kayleigh was set to take over the station's Drivetime show after Lottie temporarily stepped in during the mass exodus.
'One minute I was sipping cocktails on a beach in Croatia the next I was due to start Drivetime at 3 o’clock on Friday', she joked to the Tipperary duo.
The 28-year-old comedian admitted that while she would 'love' to get into radio, she doesn't think her lipsyncing skills would translate well.
'I’ll take a job if it’s going. I’ll never find out where it came from but radio is something I’d love to get into, don’t get me wrong. As a lipsyncer, what are the chances I’d get to speak for a living?', she said.
