Coronation Street legend Kenneth Cope dies as tributes pour in

Coronation Street star Kenneth Cope has died, aged 93.

The actor rose to fame in the 60's after landing the role of Jed Stone in the ITV soap in 1961. 

His former agent Sandra Chalmers announced the news of his passing in a post on X.

"Announcing the passing of a true icon #KennethCope," Sandra wrote. 

"An absolute joy to work with and an honour to have known.  A true gentleman in show business RIP."

Kenneth's character appeared in 38 episodes of Coronation Street between 1961 and 1963. 

He made an appearance on the cobbles in 1966, and again over 40 years later in 2008. 

The actor was also known for playing Martha Hopkirk on Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased).
