Michael Healy-Rae has romped home once again, topping the poll with a whopping 18,596 votes making it the third time the Kilgarvan TD has topped the poll since he first ran in 2011.
The Healy-Rae tide is once again rising given that he got 16,818 in the 2020 election and this time increased this by 1,778 votes. It is a win he dedicated to those who voted for him and to his team.
"I cherish every single vote,” he said.
He thanked the voters and his election team, including Director of Elections, his son Jackie.
Michael said he had been given a mandate by the people of Kerry and he looks forward to working for the people.
"The works starts today,” he said
But in the aftermath of his election win he criticised the ‘politics of nastiness,” saying such politics has “no place in Kerry.”
The next count will see his surplus of 5,513 votes be distributed on Sunday morning.
