Kilmarnock inflicted a first Scottish Premiership defeat on Celtic after coming from a goal behind to sink the sorry Hoops.
Brendan Rodgers is certainly no fan of the plastic pitches. But excuses won't be accepted from the Irishman seven days on from his blast over his players' lacklustre efforts away to St Johnstone in the first half. His men performed in the first half and were ahead at the break through Matt O'Riley's close range effort.
However, they weren't at the races during the second half, with Nat Phillips putting the ball beyond his own goalkeeper before Matty Kennedy scored the all-important winner.
It completes a perfect week for Derek McInnes after beating Aberdeen midweek and the Kilmarnock boss now has the home double over Celtic. McInnes has consistently said he wants his team to act like a top six side and a second win over the champions would be a good way of doing that.
Celtic have multiple injuries and struggled without defender Cameron Carter-Vickers, who he hopes to have back fit for the Champions League match against Feyenoord on Wednesday.

Delighted Derek Mcinnes believes it was a game of two halves and praised his players for taking on board his half-time intructions by rattling Celtic.
I'm absolutely delighted for everyone here. The players were terrific second half, we had some good opportunities first half but we were too passive, second best, allowed Celtic to enjoy the game. It was that hesitancy that was costing us and we were lucky to go in just one nil down.
I know that Danny's hit the bar and we've had a chance off the line but in terms of dominating the ball, I just thought our press was wrong. We needed to remind the players at half-time exactly the type of team we need to be - particularly here at Rugby Park against a team like Celtic.
Those reminders were met, the instructions were clear and I thought we were terrific. I thought we rattled them, I thought we unsettled them and we eventually get our reward. We had umpteen opportunities to score before we did but once we got one we just felt there would be time to get another one and thankfully we managed to do it. I think it was a game of two halves to be honest.

Daniel Armstrong played a pivotal role in Killie's win and was handed cinch man of the match.
And the winger hailed the victory as his favourite yet as he spoke to Sky Sports at full-time.
That's my favourite yet. First half we were frustrated, Corrie had a chance, we came in at half-time and the gaffer gave us a rollocking - which we kind of deserved.
We were four or fives out of ten in the first half but in the second half there was nobody below a nine. I thought we absolutely dominated the second half and Matty got the absolutely brilliant goal.
We got back in it with Brad and the own goal but it was nothing less than we deserved.

Champions Celtic suffered a second half collapse as Kilmarnock roared back to defeat their Premiership rivals 2-1 at a rain-soaked Rugby Park.
Matt O'Riley had them ahead at the break but the real story was still to unfold as Kilmarnock produced a rousing display as Matty Kennedy won it after Nat Phillips' own goal sclaff got the hosts level. Derek McInnes' side deserved their triumph and had Celtic suffering shock and awe over the dominance exerted by Kilmarnock after the interval.

There could well be a couple minutes more to be played than the eight initially added.

13:54Robert Hanratty
Kyle Vassell has put in a terrific shift this afternoon and can now take his place on the bench. He's replaced by long-serving Kilmarnock midfielder Rory McKenzie.
Marley Watkins will lead the line himself for the dying moments.
13:52Robert Hanratty
Derek Mcinnes' side have shown a desire, hunger and top class work ethic today. The same can't be said about Celtic, who have looked devoid of ideas at times.
The rain is still lashing down but they won't care in Kilmarnock if they can secure all three points.
13:50Robert Hanratty
Kilmarnock have won every second ball since the restart and are value for their lead.
EIGHT minutes have been added on at the end of this clash - can the hosts hang out for victory or will Celtic rescue a point?
13:47KEY EVENT
They can't say they haven't deserved it...
Killie take the lead in the dying minutes through Matty Kennedy as he slots the ball beyond Joe Hart from close range.
Celtic are on the brink of their first league defeat of the season.
13:46Robert Hanratty
Celtic need some magic if they are going to avoid another dissappointing to Ayrshire.
They have got plenty firepower on the pitch to take that happen, yet all the action seems to be Kilmarnock attacking at the moment.
13:43Robert Hanratty
After getting grief from his captain, Luis Palma is withdraw as the clock ticks down.
On comes James Forrest...
13:41Robert Hanratty
Callum McGregor tells Luis Palma "You've got to show for the ball" with Celtic still on the back foot.
It's almost the perfect turnaround for Kilmarnock as Marley Watkins comes close. They are really sensing blood here.
13:38Robert Hanratty
Daniel Amstrong is booked for a late challenge on Greg Taylor.
He comes out of it quite badly himself as he remains on the ground.
13:37Robert Hanratty
Brendan Rodgers instantly responds to Celtic conceding by bringing Kyogo Furuhashi on in place of Tomoki Iwata.
Kyogo has struggled for goals of late but might just be the man to find that elusive winner!
13:35KEY EVENT

A huge final 15 ms to come here!
13:33Robert Hanratty
Since coming into the action, Yang has showed an eagerness to find space and get on the ball. This time, he chases Stuart Findlay down rapidly and makes the defender boot it into the stand under pressure.
13:31Robert Hanratty
Yang cuts inside and his effort is blocked by a Kilmarnock defender before lnding to the feet of Luis Palma, who fires directly at Will Dennis.
13:29Robert Hanratty
It's Mikey Johnston who makes way in Brendan Rodgers' first alteration of the match. The winger is replaced by Hyun-Jun Yang.
13:28Robert Hanratty
Celtic should be beating Kilmarnock relatively comfortably given their expensively-assembled squad and budget.
Instead, yes they are a goal ahead, but it's been far from convincing.
Killie have been more than a match and it looks as though Brendan Rodgers will turn to his bench in order to shake things up. Tomoki Iwata has been fairly anonymous today.
13:25Robert Hanratty
Liam Donnelly's game is over after appearing to pull his hamstring.
He's replaced by striker Marley Watkins, who lets the final 25 minutes or so.
13:23Robert Hanratty
Could that have been a reprive for Celtic? They have soaked up a lot of pressure in the past 15 minutes but managed to keep the ball out Joe Hart's net.
Something had to be done to lift the standards and you can sense Celtic have lifted the tempo again.
Nonetheless, they still aren't being given a second on the ball. Kilmarnock's pressing has been comendable.
13:19Robert Hanratty
60 minutes have come and gone, with Celtic still holding a slender lead.
They haven't been at the races during the second half and you can sense some of the away following are demanding more.
They need to go up another few gears!
13:19Matthew Fulton
Kris Boyd is seething that Kilmarnock weren't given a penalty in the first half against Celtic.
The raging Rangers hero reckons VAR glaringly missed a handball when Alistair Johnston fortuitously blocked the ball from a sure-fire Kilmarnock goal with the top of either his shoulder or upper left arm. It came after Matt O'Riley smashed the ball home just after half an hour to give Brendan Rodgers' men the lead. But it was a key decision from referee David Munro and VAR that irked the former Killie hitman.

He should be able to carry on but it'll certainly be one Brendan Rodgers will be keeping a close eye on.
13:16Robert Hanratty
Daniel Armstrong pounces on a careless clearance from Greg Taylor and decides to try his luck from distance.
It's a safe effort straight at Joe Hart but it's another moment that epitomises Celtic's sloppiness.

Robbie Deas is next to test Joe Hart from a corner. He gets strong contact on the ball but the Celtic goalkeeper had it covered.
Another let-off for the Scottish Premiership leaders, who really haven't got going yet since the restart.
13:12Robert Hanratty
Joe Hart makes an excellent save at the back post to deny Corrie Ndaba from a Kilmarnock corner. That's three in the space of a couple minutes that they've had.
Celtic don't look convincing defending these set pieces and are hanging on.
13:11Robert Hanratty
Kilmarnock are unhappy as the officials conclude that it wasn't an intentional handball and decide against awarding a spot kick.
13:10Robert Hanratty
