Kraven the Hunter film – the lowdownKraven The Hunter also stars Ariana DeBose as Calypso – a voodoo priestess who is Kraven's love interest in the Marvel comics.
The film is written by Iron Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway with Richard Wenk (The Expendables 2).
It's directed by filmmaker J.C. Chandor, the man behind the critically acclaimed 2014 drama A Most Violent Year.
In the gory new clip, Kraven appears to gain his heightened prey-tracking powers as a boy after being attacked by a lion.
The new trailer has been receiving a somewhat mixed response online, with many comic book fans lauding the arrival of a brand new anti-hero to the big screen.
However others had a different view, with one Twitter user writing: "Ok, the poster is kinda dope. That definitely LOOKS like Kraven. But, I’m sorry. I am NOT looking forward for this movie. This is just gonna be another half-baked attempt by Sony to launch a cinematic universe using Spider-Man characters WITHOUT Spider-Man."
While others were concerned that the film would deviate too much from the original comics, with one fan commenting: "Someone explain to me. Kraven doesn’t have animal powers in the comics right? This is straight up butchery."
Kraven The Hunter arrives to Irish cinemas on Friday, 6 October.
