Gardaí have sealed off a home as part of the search for missing Kyran Durnin. The missing 8-year-old is presumed dead as investigators took control over a private property in order to perform a full formal search of the home and dig in the garden.
The home is in Dundalk, Co Louth, with Gardaí obtaining a District Court Order yesterday to conduct the search there from today.
Commencing today, the entire house and adjoining garden and outdoor area will be subject of technical and forensic examinations.
Investigators continue to appeal to the public for information on the disappearance of the young boy. It emerged in recent weeks that Gardaí believe little Kyran may be dead for two years, and that be may have died when he was just 6 years old. They have launched a murder investigation.
The child was reported missing on August 30 and is now presumed dead. Despite a major search and repeated public appeals for help in tracing him, no sign of the boy has been found. Officers took the rare step of upgrading the missing person's case to murder – even though they have no body - as they have no evidence that he is alive.
Gardaí are hoping to discover evidence which might provide them with information to where Kyran's is or what has happened to him.
Anyone who has any information in connection with the disappearance of Kyran is asked to contact Drogheda Garda Station on 041 987 4200 , the Garda Confidential Line on (1800) 666 111 or any local Garda Station.
