First Guest Confirmed For Final Late Late Show Of The Season
It seems like just yesterday that the Irish public welcomed Patrick Kielty into the Late Late Show hot seat with open arms; however, here we are eight months later and it's the final show.
Throughout his first season, the Down native invited some notable names to the Donnybrook studio for a chat from Hollywood star Jean-Claude Van Damme to homegrown talent such as Jamie Dornan, Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott.
The first guest for his final Late Late Show of the season has been revealed...
Michael Flatley is set to join Patrick in studio on Friday as he celebrates 30 years of Riverdance.
The Late Late Show host revealed his first guest in a hilarious clip which shows him entering a dressing room filled with celebratory balloons, thinking the crew had surprised him for his final episode of the season.
However, upon reading a card addressed to Mr Flatley, Patrick hangs his head in sadness as he returns to his bog-standard dressing room.
In a recent video, Michael said he was 'so honoured and delighted' to have brought his dream to reality and acknowledge that it was a team effort making Riverdance such a success those 30 years ago.
He also thanked his dance partner Jean Butler, composer Bill Whelan, and dancers, saying: 'I'm so honoured and delighted to have finally had a chance to bring my dream to reality. Thank you to everyone who was involved... and especially my dance team, a group of world champion dancers.'
'My dancers who stood by me and believed in me when nobody else did. It’s a night that will live forever in the minds of millions of people around the world. I just want to say to my dancers one more time, we did it!’
Michael also spoke of how he was warned not to embarrass Irish dancing when he performed at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994- ironic considering we entered Dustin the Turkey in the contest 14 years later!
The dancer caused a stir with his interval act, taking to the stage with a non-traditional routine that broke strict rules about what was acceptable. Instead of a rigid upper body, with arms by his sides, he burst onto the stage in Dublin with his arms in the air, a moment that will be remembered and honoured for years to come.
Joining Michael in the Donnybrook studio on Friday is Tullamore trio Chasing Abbey, who will perform for the live audience and viewers at home.
RTÉ has remained tight-lipped on the remainder of the line-up; however, given it's the last episode of the season it's bound to be chock-full of entertaining guests!
