The Late Late Show usually airs each Friday on RTÉ One from 9.35pm during its seasons.

As the longest-running chat show on TV, it's absence will be missed, but it's being replaced by a great festive movie in honour of Christmas.

In its place will be Last Christmas - a 2019 Christmas romantic comedy.

The film stars Game of Thrones actor Emilia Clarke as Kate, alongside Crazy Rich Asians Henry Golding as Tom.

Kate is an unlucky aspiring musician who works as an elf in a year-round Christmas shop, who meets Tom and her luck starts to change.

If you want to save the Christmas movies until next week, RTE2 is showing Christopher Nolan's mind-bending Tenet at 9.30pm.

Meanwhile, comedy chat show Parents' Evening is on Virgin Media One at 9pm.

If you don't want to deal with ads, there are some great offerings over on the top streaming services.

On Netflix, La Palma, a four-part Norwegian series depicting a family navigating a natural disaster, Black Doves, a British spy thriller with humour, and No Good Deed, a dark comedy where three very different families compete to buy the same 1920s Spanish-style villa, are some of the top recommended watches on the streaming service at the moment.

On Disney+, The Lion King live action film is a great choice, as are any of their great Christmas film offerings with plenty there for all the family.

On Amazon Prime, Red One has proven to be a fan favourite, in which Santa Claus – Code Name: RED ONE – is kidnapped, and the North Pole’s Head of Security (Dwayne Johnson) teams up with an infamous bounty hunter (Chris Evans) in an action packed mission to save Christmas.
