Lee Carsley

Lee Carsley leads the betting odds to become the next Irish manager as pressure mounts even more on Stephen Kenny following last night's 2-1 loss to the Netherlands.

The former Irish international and England Under-21 manager is priced at 11/4 by Paddy Power to be the next manager in the dugout at the Aviva Stadium.

In a nutshell

Lee Carsley is the bookies' favourite to become the next Irish football manager as Stephen Kenny's time in charge looks as though it may come to an end.

Pressure has been mounting on Kenny particularly during this Euro 2024 qualifying campaign as the Boys in Green have just three points from five game, with the Dutch adding to another disappointing night for Kenny and co.

Speculation has been growing for quite some time that Kenny's time in charge could be up and with it a lot of discussion has begun about who his replacement could be.

The favourites to take over from him can be found below.

Lee Carsley (11/4)

Carsley recently guided the England U-21s to U-21 European Championships and has been heavily linked with the job for quite some time. The former Birmingham player picked up 40 caps for Ireland during his career.

Neil Lennon (11/2)

The former Celtic chief hasn't been in a job since 2022 when he was in charge of Cypriot outfit Omonia. The former Northern Ireland international had a very good track record during his two stints in charge of the Bhoys.

Chris Hughton (7/1)

Hughton is currently over the Ghana national team but he has decent managerial pedigree having been in charge of Brighton, Newcastle and Birmingham. He was also Irish assistant manager from 2003-2005.
