Leeds United (4-2-3-1)
1 Illan Meslier
Has to stop the first goal. Ball went right through him. Not much he could do about a wonderful strike for the second. Distrbution was sound enough. Still a little bit concerning under high balls. 5
2 Jayden Bogle
Some really good stuff in attack, especially some his passes into the final third from deeper positions. Defending was questionable for the first goal, however. Elias Sorensen was completely unmarked where the right-back should have been. Cannot give the referee a decision to make at the death like that. 5
6 Joe Rodon
One of his poorest games in memory for Leeds. Header and preceding foul played big parts in the second goal, while some of his passing was too rushed and left the team out of shape. 5

5 Pascal Struijk
Excellent return to competitive action after more than seven months away. Took his penalty perfectly. Commanding in defence, even when Leeds were a little under the cosh at points. Seemed to win every duel and calm things down around him. 7
3 Junior Firpo
Didn't see as much of an impact from the left-back in attack down the side. Nothing too concerning in defence either. Had Paddy Lane locked down. 6
4 Ethan Ampadu (c)
Decent enough. Nearly scored early on with a rare header from a corner that bounced off the bar. Tame challenge in the build-up to the first Portsmouth goal. Some decent tackles when they were needed in the engine room, but too many of his passes were unable to get team-mates into good positions upfield. 6
44 Ilia Gruev
Could visibly see his efforts to get into more advanced positions through the centre from deep. Early free-kick hit the bar. Tested the goalkeeper from open play later too. Combative. Good challenges. Decent performance. 7
7 Daniel James
Started really brightly and won the early penalty, but faded over the first half and then was non-existent after the break. Pace was always there as an outlets, but will have much better days than this. 5
24 Georginio Rutter
Either brilliant or maddening, never anywhere in between. Fed off the team's early confidence and really put the visitors to work, but when the pressure came on he began to try too hard. That meant his first touch grew heavy and his dribbles went down narrower and narrower alleys. 6
29 Wilfried Gnonto
Tested the goalkeeper in each half and carried the early threat after the break with a goal. Not always blistering or effective, but did more than anyone else to turn the tide. 7
19 Mateo Joseph
No goal, but an impressive all-round performance that held the ball up, kept defenders honest, pressed, ran the channels. 7
Substitutes
26 Karl Darlow
8 Joe Rothwell (on for Gruev 71min)
Stayed under the radar. Didn't see much from him at any stage. 6
9 Patrick Bamford (on for Joseph 79min)
Close with one near-post chance. N/A
10 Joel Piroe (on for James 72min)
Lovely pass into Brenden Aaronson for the late equaliser, but not a whole lot else from him. 6
11 Brenden Aaronson (on for Gnonto 72min)
So close to becoming the hero on his first appearance back for the Whites. Took one quality goal and missed the easier opening just afterwards. 7
