Team News: Daniel Farke names first XI of 2024/25 season - Leeds ...

Leeds United are back in action today for our first game of the 2024/25 campaign, as they take on newly promoted side Portsmouth in the Sky Bet Championship.

Daniel Farke has chosen a strong first starting XI for the match as we aim for our first three points.

Illan Meslier starts in net for the Whites and the Frenchman is joined by defenders Junior Firpo, Pascal Struijk, Joe Rodon and Jayden Bogle – who makes his first competitive start for the club.

Captain Ethan Ampadu is joined by Ilia Gruev in our midfield whilst our attacking positions are filled by Willy Gnonto, Dan James, Georginio Rutter and Mateo Joseph.

Our substitutes bench this afternoon features newcomer Joe Rothwell, Patrick Bamford, Joel Piroe, Sam Byram, Brenden Aaronson, Max Wober, Joe Gelhardt, Charlie Crew and goalkeeper Karl Darlow.
