Leeds United vs Boro LIVE Championship match updates from ...
Middlesbrough are looking to make a big statement at Elland Road this evening as they play promotion rivals Leeds United.
Fresh from drawing with Burnley on Friday, Boro have lost only one of their last six. They head to Leeds full of confidence and knowing they've already won once here.
In the first round of the Carabao Cup back in August, Boro won 3-0 here at Elland Road. But in a sign of how strong a season the Whites are enjoying, Michael Carrick's side remain one of just two sides to win at Elland Road this campaign. They'll be hoping to do so again here and make a big promotion statement.
Can they do so? Join us below for live updates and analysis of build-up, team news and then the match itself below.
FT: 3-1Craig Johns
Boro beaten. You can't complain about it either. Beaten by the better side, but undoubtedly, Boro created their own problems tonight.
90+2 mins 3-1 KEY EVENT
Leeds seal it. Poor Edmundson ball out this time. Leeds break and James plays Tanaka in behind. He unselfishly slides across to Aaronson for the tap in.
90 mins 2-1Craig Johns
Still time for Boro
82 mins 1-1Craig Johns
Conway on for Azaz
81 mins 2-1Craig Johns
Burgzorg on for McGree
74 mins 2-1KEY EVENT
Leeds ahead again. Boro don't heed the warning. McGree this time too easily beaten to the ball and Leeds break with James slipped in behind by Piroe before smashing across goal into the far corner.
73 mins 1-1Craig Johns
Barlaser gives it away. James in behind. Good Dieng save.
69 mins 1-1Craig Johns
Piroe and Solomon on for Joseph and Gnonto
67 mins 1-1Craig Johns
Latte Lath does really well and catches Tanaka in possession which gets Boro away on a counter. Azaz just dwells too long on it. He does enough to get it to Hackney who plays an excellent ball across to Doak who's free coming into the box from the right but Meslier was off his line so quickly to deny him.
62 mins 1-1Craig Johns
Boro a lot more aggressive out of possession so far this half and a lot more purpose to their counters out of possession. Home fans getting a little frustrated as they urge their side on.
54 mins 1-1KEY EVENT
Boro level! The resulting corner from that good McGree chance. Wober inadvertently flicks Barlaser's corner on at the front post and into his own net.
Said at HT they were still in it and they started much better after the break.
53 mins 1-0Craig Johns
Positive from Boro. They break well and Doak goes inside to Hackney and it's three on three for Boro. He goes wide to McGree whose effort is saved.
46 mins 1-0Craig Johns
Both sides unchanged and we're back under way
HT 1-0Craig Johns
Players back out then and we're ready to go again
HT 1-0Craig Johns
They're not yet back out, but all nine subs are warming up in front of me
HT 1-0Craig Johns
As poor as Boro were there, it remains just 1-0. Boro can turn things around in the second half and are by no means out of this game.
HT 1-0Craig Johns
As bad as Boro have been this season that. They look so off the pace and can't live with the home side's pace or tempo, while their own sloppiness on the ball hasn't helped. Second best there.
HT 1-0Craig Johns
Boro behind at the break.
45 mins 1-0Craig Johns
Leeds counter on Boro as a fairly decent Boro opening comes to nothing. The ease with which Gnonto passes Barlaser is not good enough before his effort from 25 yards is well saved by Dieng.
44 mins 1-0Craig Johns
Clarke the guilty party this time as the ball bounces in front of him and he hesitates as James looks to challange. As such, he lets it go beyond him and it leaves Aaronson with a free shot at goal. He fires over from the edge.
42 mins 1-0Craig Johns
Dan James played in behind running off Borges. Dieng reacts really well to get off his line and dive down to gather the ball as James ran on to it.
Boro look a good two yards off Leeds' pace here. Can't match the tempo of the home side.
31 mins 1-0Craig Johns
Just as I say they've settled, they play themselves into trouble again. it was a move which about summed up their struggles to far. Hackney gets it just outside his own box but his ball to Borges is poor and behind the left back who therefore has to rush it back to Hackney. Under pressure he can't reach Barlaser and he's forced to make a foul on the edge. Leeds didn't get the resulting free-kick over the wall, but a dangerous situation all stemmed from one sloppy Hackney pass.
29 mins 1-0Craig Johns
Settling into it a bit more and a bit more aggressive in their determination to win the ball, then better when in possession.
Another half chance as a cross gets all the way to trhe back post. McGree connects with the volley first-time which is goalbound, but is blocked.
24 mins 1-0Craig Johns
Boro's first sight of goal. Doak gets in behind but has nothing to hit in the box so has to delay before support from Azaz arrives. Azaz's initial cross is blocked so he attempts a curled effort with his left but it's well over.
21 mins 1-0Craig Johns
Leeds making this look so easy to get through the Boro defence, while Boro are doing little to alleviate the pressure with their own sloppy play.
Terrible backpass there by Hackney, chipping it awkwardly into Dieng with Joseph on the scene. Dieng and Clarke do enough in the end to get rid, but it sums up a rather panicked start by Boro who just can't get a foothold in the game at all.
17 mins 1-0Craig Johns
Didn't look like much at the time and McGree was the only to half claim for it, but just seeing a replay now and as Azaz plays a ball across the box, McGree gets ahead of Rodon, who catches McGree's heel in swiping for the ball. Maybe soft, but definite contact with player not ball.
17 mins 1-0Craig Johns
Undoubtedly it looks really bad for Dieng who doesn't react well to the initial block, but in the first place, it's so poor from Borges to let James get the wrong side and away from him so easily. The frustrating thing is it wasn't the first time, so he had the warning and didn't react to it.
14 mins 1-0KEY EVENT
Boro behind. Poor goal to concede. James gets wrong side and away from Borges with a simple ball up the wing. Low cross flicked goalwards which Dieng initially blocks but then in an attempt to clear from the ground, the Boro keeper kicks it off Gnonto and in.
8 mins 0-0Craig Johns
Carrick calling for calm from his players. They've not settled yet and are making this a bit easy for the home side so far.
6 mins 0-0Craig Johns
Leeds quickly onto the front foot. Boro having to stay compact and do a lot of defending right now. Not yet really managed to get the ball in their control
