Tries from Max Deegan, on his 100th appearance, and Jordan Larmour gave Leo Cullen's men a 12-6 half-time lead.

Replacement Rob Russell and Tommy O'Brien added scores for the hosts, before Russell cancelled out Dylan Richardson's late consolation try.

The Sharks lost 34-21 away to Munster in last weekend's opener.

It meant both sides went into Saturday's encounter at the RDS Arena looking for their first victory of the season, with Leinster having been beaten 43-25 by Glasgow Warriors last week.

Larmour crossed for Leinster in between two early Curwin Bosch penalties before number eight Deegan drove in low for the hosts' second try.

Leinster soon took control. Foley's neat pass, combined with Jason Jenkins sucking in defenders, put Russell over to the right of the posts.

The Irish province bagged their bonus point in the 65th minute as industrious winger O'Brien swept over on the right via a pinpoint Sam Prendergast crossfield kick.

The visitors' reserve hooker Richardson broke off a 79th-minute maul to touch down, only for Fassi to knock on following the restart. Ross Molony then nudged the loose ball through for Russell to complete his brace.
