Celtic's Liam Scales has got an international call-up

Uncapped defender Liam Scales has been rewarded for his form in Celtic's Champions League campaign with a call-up to the Ireland squad for Euro 2024 qualifiers against Greece and Gibraltar, which also sees a recall for Mikey Johnston, Mark Sykes and Callum Robinson.

Liverpool keeper Caoimhín Kelleher has missed out due to injury, while James McClean – who earlier today announced he was retiring from international football at the end of the year – is not in the 24-man panel.

Troy Parrott, on form in Holland with two goals in two games for loan club Excelsior, is also absent.

It had already been confirmed John Egan and Callum O'Dowda would miss out, while Seamus Coleman is also absent through injury and those injuries open the door for Scales, previously capped at U-21 level to come in while Andrew Omobamidele is back in.

Goalkeepers: Gavin Bazunu (Southampton), Mark Travers (Stoke C), Max O'Leary (Bristol C).

Defenders: Matt Doherty (Wolves), Festy Ebosele (Udinese), Nathan Collins (Brentford), Shane Duffy (Norwich C), Dara O'Shea (Burnley), Andrew Omobamidele (Nottingham F), Liam Scales (Celtic), Ryan Manning (Southampton).

Midfielders: Josh Cullen (Burnley), Jayson Molumby (WBA), Alan Browne (Preston North End), Will Smallbone (Southampton), Mark Sykes, Jason Knight (Bristol C), Jamie McGrath (Aberdeen).

Forwards: Evan Ferguson (Brighton), Adam Idah (Norwich C), Aaron Connolly (Hull C), Chiedozie Ogbene (Luton T), Callum Robinson (Cardiff C), Mikey Johnston (Celtic).
