Gardaí rule out foul play in case of woman found dead in Limerick ...
Gardaí have ruled out foul play in the case of a woman who was found dead in a house in Co Limerick.
Gardaí will continue to investigate the women's death in order to inform a coroner's inquest as opposed to a criminal inquiry, a spokesperson confirmed.
An autopsy was today conducted but the results of this will not be released.
The woman was today named locally as Catherine McCarthy Atkinson.
Another woman was arrested at the scene for a public order offence.
No arrests have been made in connection with Ms McCarthy Atkinson's death.
Ms McCarthy Atkinson’s body was removed from the house she was discovered in at Templegreen, in Newcastle West and taken to University Hospital Limerick.
The deceased, a mother who was in her 50s, is understood to have been living in Newcastle west for some years.
Emergency services made the discovery at around 5.10pm on Monday.
Tributes
Tributes have been paid to Ms McCarthy Atkinson, also known as ‘Ca’ McCarthy Atkinson, who was described as "the nicest woman" who "lived for her grandchildren".
“She was the nicest women who looked out for everyone," Katie Kathleen Smith told the Irish Examiner.
"She would never pass you by in the street. She was always up for a chat and never a bad word to say about anyone. She will be sadly missed by everyone in the community. May she rest in peace.
