No foul play in sudden death of Limerick woman
GARDAI have ruled out foul play in the death of a woman in Newcastle West on Monday afternoon.
The body of Catherine ‘Ca’ McCarthy Atkinson was discovered in her ground-floor apartment of a duplex in the Templegreen estate on the outskirts of the town on Monday evening.
A garda investigation was launched following the discovery at approximately 5:10pm.
The body of the mother-of-one was removed to University Hospital Limerick late on Monday night following the visit by a State pathologist to the scene. Gardai said the post-mortem would determine the direction of their investigation.
A garda spokesperson said this Tuesday: "Following the completion of a post mortem, gardaí investigating the discovery of a body of a woman in her 50s at a residence in Templegreen, Newcastle West, on Monday, August 14 will now be preparing a file for the coroner."
The results of the post mortem are not being released for operational reasons but gardai said foul play is not suspected at this time.
