Lisa McHugh's new baby arrives 'unexpectedly' early
Congratulations are in order for country singer Lisa McHugh, who welcomed her second child with her husband Nathan Khan this month.
The 36-year-old Scottish singer, who announced she was expecting again in February, revealed that their little one had joined the family on 19 July in a heartwarming reveal post where she said that they had welcomed a baby girl.
Lisa and Nathan shared a cute photo of their newborn and announced that they’d decided to name their baby, a sibling for their two-year-old son Milo, Hallie.
Alongside the photo, Lisa wrote: ‘On Friday, 19 July at 8.12 pm our beautiful little girl Hallie arrived very unexpectedly into the world and completely stole our hearts.
While she didn’t delve into the details of her labour or the reason for Hallie’s early arrival Lisa profusely thanked the staff at The South West Acute Hospital and Altnagelvin Hospital ‘for the incredible care and support they have given both Hallie, myself and our family since Friday.
Lisa signed off her heartfelt message by promising to go into further detail at a later date. For the moment her focus is on bringing their ‘angel’ home and introducing her to Milo.
Lisa’s second pregnancy hasn’t been the smoothest as she was struck down with Covid and pleurisy and forced to pull out of several shows.
She said at the time: ‘I had a chest infection and pleurisy. And then also, I got Covid. Obviously, being heavily pregnant, you really can’t take much medication apart from paracetamol.’
Lisa admitted that she pushed her body too hard and took time out to recover before getting back on stage. She was feeling better towards the end of her pregnancy though and was able to perform at Farmers Bash in Belfast at the end of June.
‘Doing a show 9 months pregnant was a lot more fun than I thought it would be,’ she said sharing snaps from the last gig before hanging up her mic for maternity leave.
Chatting to EVOKE about her second pregnancy in May, Lisa said that she’s not planning on taking any more time out of work with baby number two.
‘I just didn’t really know what to expect [with her first child], what was going to happen afterwards. I took a good break then but this time I want to take a break, of course, I don’t want it to go back too soon. I want to enjoy the whole baby bubble as well, but at the same time, I love my job,’ she said.
Lisa’s next performance is already in the diary for November 30 when she’ll be performing at Ulster Hall.
Congratulations on the new baby, Lisa and Nathan!
