Liverpool FC and LFC Foundation are once again coming together alongside supporters, partners and the wider community to support thousands of local people and families throughout the festive period.
‘Operation Christmas Magic’, the Reds’ community Christmas campaign, will be running for the fifth consecutive year throughout this month, with a focus on child and food poverty across the Liverpool City Region.
Activities will take place throughout the month, delivered by LFC Foundation, and Hits Radio will be hosting its breakfast show live from the LFC retail store at Anfield on Friday December 13. Supporters are welcome to visit between 7am and 11am, where there will be free breakfast sandwiches and refreshments, entertainment and a chance to meet Mighty Red and special LFC guests.
LFC’s festive activities kick off this week with free Christmas lunches at Anfield, providing 800 local people with a Christmas dinner and festive entertainment, while the club and LFC Foundation will once again be teaming up with club partners to donate and deliver 2,000 food hampers to local residents, participants and their families.
LFC continues to work with and support St Andrew’s Community Network, home of the North Liverpool Foodbank, on the ongoing issue of food poverty, and fans can show their support by making a food donation at the Anfield clash with Fulham before Christmas.
Items can be dropped off from three hours before kick-off at the official LFC retail store at Anfield, Homebaked bakery or the Fans Supporting Foodbanks unit on Walton Breck Road.
Fans can also support the toy donation campaign through Hits Radio’s Cash for Kids Mission Christmas campaign, by donating new and unwrapped gifts at collection points in any official LFC store in Liverpool, Chester or Belfast. Alternatively, donations can be made by simply texting MERSEY to 70910 to give £10 or to 70920 to donate £20.
Operation Christmas Magic events also include the club’s popular Christmas carol service at Anfield, with guests from the local community, as well as Christmas parties with LFC Foundation across its programmes.
The club will also continue its support of Alder Hey Children’s Hospital with the annual visit from members of both the men’s and women’s teams.
