With both parents working busy jobs in demanding industries it takes a real tag team effort for RTÉ star Louise Duffy and GAA legend Paul Galvin to strike a balance with their daughters.

The couple got married in 2015 and are parents to two girls, the oldest, Esmé, was born in 2018, while Elin was a lockdown baby, born in June 2021.

Former Kerry GAA star Paul turned his hand to fashion design when he hung up his boots and for nearly ten years has been linked with Dunnes Stores.

For Louise, it has always been about entertainment and over the years she has presented many shows on radio and TV and in recent times she took over Ronan Collins’s spot on RTÉ radio.

For the low-key high-profile couple, life is a balancing act with their hectic careers but she says they still manage to fairly split their parenting duties.

She says Paul is great for helping their daughters build their self-confidence while she picks up more of the mental load and keeps on top of social obligations.

‘Paul is an incredible father. He’s very focused on their feelings, on giving them strength and resilience. He reads with them and does the homework,’ Louise said in a new interview with the Irish Times.

Her role meanwhile often involves organising ‘birthday parties, play dates’ she explained, adding ‘it’s very well divided up.’

Chatting to Galway Beo recently, she also admitted that they try to stay ouot of each other’s lanes when it comes to work. ‘He does his thing and I do mine. Fashion is his domain. He’ll sometimes send me songs to put on air, but that’s about as involved as he gets in my work.’

She said ‘We know the flexibility and the hustle required to succeed. There’s always an ambiguity around the industries of fashion and media. It’s what drives you, but it’s also something that not everyone understands or appreciates.’
