Chelsea are still very much a side in transition as Mauricio Pochettino looks to guide some of his young players towards reaching their potential for the club. There will no doubt be some bumps along the road for the west London outfit as everything clicks into place, but there has been some promising signs mixed with concerns.
Looking on the bright side, the performances have been much improved from last season as the manager starts to form how his team will look going forwards. While Pochettino admitted he isn't sure exactly what would be a success for the Blues, there will be some pleasure in progression in the Carabao Cup in midweek.
Goals from Benoit Badiashile and Raheem Sterling were enough for the side to secure a win over Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers at Stamford Bridge. The cup draw for the quarter-finals then pitted the Blues against Newcastle for next month, with the competition wide open.
There will be some time before that fixture though and in the mean time, there is a run of matches coming that will be a cause for concern. A whole host of teams expecting to challenge at the top are coming up for Chelsea and after a loss to Brentford in the league, there will be pressure on results.
With that said, here's a look at their next five fixtures compared to some of their rivals in the hunt for a potential European place this season.

Tottenham (A) - November 6Chelsea's clashes with Tottenham have gained something of a reputation for becoming feisty in recent years as the two London clubs square off. Not only is there history between them, it will also mark a return to Spurs for Pochettino for the first time since being named Blues boss.
The Lilywhites look far removed from the team they have been in the past couple years though, with Ange Postecoglou currently transforming them to table-toppers capable of causing problems for any team.
Manchester City (H) - November 12The final match before the international break for Chelsea is back at Stamford Bridge, where they host champions Manchester City. While Pep Guardiola's side have always been a scary proposition, some recent defeats suggest they still have their own weaknesses that can be exploited.
Newcastle United (A) - November 25A dress rehearsal for the Carabao Cup quarter-finals is on the cards after the two-week break, with Chelsea making the trip to the north-east to take on Newcastle. Eddie Howe's side find themselves competing for a top four place once again after a slow start to the campaign, but their injuries and squad depth could play a huge role in any upcoming match.
Brighton (H) - December 3Kicking off the new month, Chelsea will be hosting Brighton and hopeful that they can earn another three points off of a team they've become inextricably linked with for the past year or so. The Seagulls are once again pushing for a European finish, but there will be plenty of opportunities to play through them.
Manchester United (A) - December 6Round off the next five fixtures is a trip to Manchester United, where there are growing tensions surrounding the club's current situation. Poor results in the Premier League, Champions League and Carabao Cup have been met with poor performances, putting Erik ten Hag over growing pressure.
