(CNN) - At Tuesday night’s Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Rep. Matt Gaetz, R - Fla., interrupted former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s interview with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins.
The pair have been rivals since Gaetz lead the effort to oust McCarthy as speaker last fall.
The House voted to remove McCarthy in October.
The two spoke on top of each other.
“... one who’s not coming back and then the other part that you have ... and then the other part that you have ...” McCarthy said.
“What night are you speaking? What night are you speaking? Are you speaking tonight or ...” Gaetz said.
“One person who raised the issue, he’s got an ethics complaint about paying, sleeping with a 17-year-old ...” McCarthy said.
“Hey, you’re not. If you took that stage, you’d get booed off of it. You would get booed off the stage,” Gaetz said.
“...so that’s the way they would go. That’s the biggest challenge we have,” McCarthy said.
McCarthy accused Gaetz of leading the charge to oust him as speaker because Gaetz was under scrutiny for possible ethics violations and wanted the investigation to end.
After relinquishing the speaker’s gavel, McCarthy resigned from the house in December.
