Love Island's Maura Higgins and Faye Winter have responded to reports that they had a public row following the National Television Awards.

The two former stars of the ITV2 series can be seen in a video published by The Sun which seemingly shows them in a heated discussion — apparently over a shoe being thrown.

The alleged incident didn't seem to be ruining the mood at the NTAs after-party though, as other guests — including Made in Chelsea's Sam Thompson — can be seen enjoying their night without any disruption.

The day after the ceremony (Wednesday, September 6), both women downplayed the nature of their conversation in posts on their Instagram Stories.

Sharing the news outlet's headline, Maura wrote: "Borrrringgg!!!! Can't have a passionate conversation without people videoing and press trying to turn women against one another… ILY [I love you] @faye__winter no drama here love."

Faye then shared Maura's Instagram Story on her own account, responding to the news outlet's claim that Maura allegedly called her "a silly cow".

"I mean she calls me a silly cow most days and she ain't wrong," Faye joked, adding: "And I can confirm no designer shoes were disrespected in the conversation."

The two were among the many Love Island stars in attendance at the National Television Awards at the O2 Arena on Tuesday night (September 5) where host Joel Dommett paid tribute to the year in TV.

The show was up for the Reality Competition Award alongside Race Across the World and SAS: Who Dares Wins, but they all lost out to The Traitors.
