24 Mar 2024

IN the space of just four years, Maya Jama has gone from being a relative unknown on Radio 1 to one of the most successful women in telly.

And she’s certainly not daft, cashing in with a series of contracts, including with Rimmel and Dolce & Gabbana.

Now Maya is adding to her accountant’s workload, having signed a huge deal to become the face of Beauty Works.

Insiders say Maya teamed up with the hair extension giant last month, with a huge new campaign to be announced in the coming days.

A source said: “Everything Maya touches turns to gold and companies are fighting to work with her. She has signed a six-figure deal with Beauty Works to be the face of their hair extensions for the rest of this year.

“It’s a clever move for Maya. She is very selective about who she works for and they have to make sense for her brand.

“She has her beauty deal with Rimmel and her fashion endorsement with Dolce & Gabbana, which have both banked her huge sums.

“The campaign with Beauty Works is going to be announced soon and they think having Maya on board will help the sales of their hair extensions rocket.”

Maya cut her long hair into a bob last week, much to the shock of some fans, but now it all makes sense.

We revealed last summer how Maya had banked her first million thanks to her savvy business deals, which includes her own brand of eye masks.

Speaking about her success, the Love Island presenter admitted she still had to remind herself it was real.

She said: “It’s all just a bit mental. I still have moments where I say, ‘What the hell is going on?’, and pinch myself.

“From a council estate in Bristol — it’s surreal.

“I always felt like I would have a job like this, I always hoped and dreamed, but the reality hasn’t hit home yet.”

Maya is one of the hardest grafters in the business so she deserves every bit of her success.

ALOUD AND PROUD

GIRLS ALOUD fans watching them at London’s O2 Arena in June will get a special treat as singer-songwriter Florrie will be the support act.

She played drums on Girls Aloud’s 2008 single The Promise and co-wrote 2012’s Something New.

She will drop debut album The Lost Ones on June 14.

The lead single of the same name came out on Friday.

The mind bending Chemicals★★★★★

THE Royal Albert Hall shook to the sound of Block Rockin’ Beats as The Chemical Brothers played the penultimate night of the Teenage Cancer Trust’s annual gigs.

Clubbers of all ages swarmed into the historic venue to see Ed Simons and Tom Rowlands take to the stage at the weekend – and we all left on a high.

The atmosphere was electric as they played hit after hit, including Hey Boy Hey Girl, Star Guitar and Galvanize.

It was the first time the duo had played for the Teenage Cancer Trust and they certainly made an impact.

An incredible light display brought the venue to life, as thousands of fans got up on their feet to dance the night away.

Speaking after the show, the electronic masters said the per-formance was going to be their last live show for a while, which made the night all the more poignant.

Last night, The Who's Roger Daltry took his final bow as a curator of the event, after 24 years and raising more than £32million for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Roger, I salute you. And for booking The Chemical Brothers, I thank you.

LIAM Payne is back to his best after a rough few months.

The singer, who released comeback single Teardrops at the start of March, looked smart in shirt and jeans as he went out to dinner at Novikov in Mayfair with his actress girlfriend Kate Cassidy sporting some wacky footwear.

Liam was taken to hospital in Italy last year because of an issue with his kidneys.

He went on to cancel his South American tour – and it seems the time out has done him the world of good.

The singer celebrated the release of Teardrops with his son Bear, sharing a photo on Friday of the little lad looking at Liam’s billboard in Leicester Square with the caption: “I want to be on a billboard one day, daddy.”

Seeing as Bear’s mum, Cheryl Tweedy, had a string of hits with Girls Aloud and with Liam in One Direction, I’d be surprised if the lad didn’t follow in their footsteps.

BA Harry is plane humble

HE’S one of the biggest stars on the planet but Harry Styles hasn’t let fame and fortune go to his head.

Passengers on a British Airways red-eye flight from New York to Heathrow last week told me they were amazed to see him boarding.

Unlike other snobby celebs who charter private jets, Harry chatted happily to fans who spotted him in first class.

But the star isn’t the only big name to fly with the rest of us – albeit in a fancy seat up front.

I told last year how Madonna flew commercial to London for her Celebration Tour.

And Kylie Minogue has been spotted flying BA to Las Vegas for her residency at the Voltaire club.

Many celebs talk about saving the planet, so it’s good to see some actually cutting their carbon cost.

Olivia's on the money

SHE made a name for herself as Sophie in TV’s Peep Show before playing Queen Elizabeth II in The Crown and Queen Anne in The Favourite.

But despite her stellar credits, Olivia Colman reckons the acting world has a huge issue when it comes to paying men and women equally.

She said: “I’m very aware that if I was Oliver Colman, I would be earning a f*** of a lot more than I am. I know of one pay disparity which is a 12,000 per cent difference.”

Opening up on CNN, Olivia added: “Male actors get paid more because they used to say they drew the audiences.

“Actually, that hasn’t been true for decades.”

It’s shameful that female actors are still paid less.

Like Olivia, they need to keep shouting to finally get the industry to listen.

You da mama, Halle

MOTHERHOOD suits Halle Bailey.

The Little Mermaid actress looked amazing, despite the sleepless nights, while giving a talk in the US and opening up about life as a new mum.

Halle, who wore a white jumpsuit for the event in Atlanta, Georgia, revealed she had secretly given birth to a son, Halo, in January.

She said of her hush-hush birth: “What was one of the biggest highlights of my life – and to be real, one of the biggest challenges – cannot compare to the biggest joy of my life.

“And that was becoming a mom to my perfect little angel Halo.

“These lessons – some hard – led me to a place of protection. There was no way I was going to share the biggest joy of my world with anyone.”

House about Daisy and Pip

NORMAL People actress Daisy Edgar-Jones’s romance is heating up, as she has now moved in with her boyfriend.

Daisy and photographer partner Ben Seed, who goes by the name Pip, have been inviting pals to a house-warming bash in East London.

We told six months ago how Daisy and right with Pip, had got together with her beau, who previously dated Queen’s Gambit actress Anya Taylor-Joy.

A source said: “Daisy’s never been so happy, and things are going great with Pip. They really clicked last year. They have a lot of love for each other and are building a life together. Moving in together felt like the natural next step, although they’ve not been together that long.”

Daisy previously spoke of her troubles with dating, saying: “Now that we have dating apps, we almost shop for each other like we would with a handbag, and hope the person we meet will live up to the idea of them that we’ve created.”

This summer, Daisy will star in disaster movie Twisters, a sequel to 1996 blockbuster Twister.

Here’s hoping her relationship isn’t as stormy as that flick.

She is now enjoying a break after last film, All Of Us Strangers, raised eyebrows when she was cast as Andrew Scott’s mum – despite being eight years younger than the leading man in real life.

Claire said: “It felt very natural. I loved the scenes.”

I think Claire is a bigger woman than me.

I’d be booking in for extra Botox.

IT looks like it’s all over for Kim Kardashian and her latest fella Odell Beckham JR.

Insiders say the relationship is finished, a year after they were first linked. Kim was first spotted with the American football star last spring.

But the couple have not been seen together since the Vanity Fair Oscars party in LA earlier this month

It comes just weeks after rumours swirled that Kim was looking to have a child with the US sportsman.
