Funeral details for mother and daughter killed in Mayo crash ...

The funeral mass for the pair will take place on Saturday at 12pm in Our Lady Help of Christians church.

They will be reposing in the Swinford Cultural Centre on Friday afternoon from 5pm to 8pm, according to their death notice.

It adds that donations, if desired, can be made to Mayo Parkinson's Association.

The notice reads: "Aisling and Abbigael will be sadly missed by Abbigael’s father Arnaud, her half-sister Aleksia, her French grandparents Jean Yves and Michéle Tournié. 

"They will also be missed by Aisling's parents Eamon and Noreen, brothers Eddie, Stephen and sister Anita, sister in laws Louise and Charline and brother in law Declan, nieces, nephews and all their extended and much loved family, neighbours and friends."

In a post on social media, the Kiltimagh LGFA club described Abbigael as a fun-loving girl who will be missed dearly.

The statement said: “It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we hear about the tragic deaths of our U10 team member Abbigael and her loving mother Aisling Moore.

“Abbigael was a kind, bubbly and fun-loving girl who will be missed dearly by us all, not least her family and her dear friends.

“We hold Aisling and Abbigael's family and friends in our thoughts and prayers. Rest In Peace Aisling and Abbigael in the arms of the angels.” 

Swinford AC also paid tribute, saying: “The Swinford athletic community are in shock and disbelief as we heard of the awful tragedy to hit our community.

“News of the fatal crash claiming the lives of Aisling and Abbigael has rocked us to the core.

“Abbigael became a member of Swinford AC at age 5 in our little athletic group. Abbigael was the first child waiting for the gate to open every Tuesday evening rail hail or shine and never missed a session, such was her love and enthusiasm for running, cartwheels and having fun.

"Her bubbly personality, beautiful smile and the sound of her laugh will be just some of the things we will treasure," it said.

Ireland has seen four deaths in the 24 hours since Tuesday evening after two road collisions in the same area of Westmeath. 

Marcin Nowosielski, 47, was found dead in a car on Tuesday when emergency services were alerted to a vehicle found in a ditch on the roadside of the R395 at Teevrevagh, Castlepollard. 

In a separate crash, a man in his 80s was killed following a two-car collision in the early hours of Wednesday morning on the R394 at Gartlandstown in Castlepollard.

According to statistics from gardaí, 97 people have died on Irish roads so far this year. This is up 12 on the same period last year.

On Wednesday, Garda Press Officer Superintendent Liam Geraghty called on road users "to exercise extreme caution and stay safe".

"Recent incidents on our roads once again tragically illustrate the dangers that can affect any of us. No one sets out with the intention of causing or being involved in a traffic collision, especially one that results in fatalities. We often take using our roads as a routine activity, yet it remains the most hazardous task we engage in daily."

He added: "In particular, we urge all drivers to please slow down and protect everyone on our roads.”
