Met Éireann has issued a yellow rain warning for 18 counties, saying Monday’s clear skies will make way for torrential rain in most counties on Tuesday.
The warning will take effect from 4am on Tuesday until 4am on Wednesday, with rain becoming persistent and heavy at times.
All of Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Leitrim, Roscommon, Tipperary and Waterford are under the 24-hour rain warning.
“Potential impacts include localised flooding, difficult travelling conditions and poor visibility,” Met Éireann said.
