'There's no pretense' Davina McCall's partner on getting second ...
Michael Douglas and Davina McCall were lucky in love the second time around. The pair, who were both previously married, have been dating since 2019 and are head-over-heels for each other.
The couple have not been shy with their public displays of affection since becoming an item and often gush over each other during interviews and public appearances.
Speaking to EVOKE at his OGX hair masterclass in Dublin City, Michael opened up about Davina and the recipe to their successful union.
Michael said: 'The secret is, well it's kind of just the obvious stuff I suppose, total truth and honesty, and not just about the obvious things but about every single thing.
'There's a piece of poetry I read once and it said, "Show me who you are, because in the end I will get to see you," and I remember thinking "Oh gosh, that's amazing."' How romantic is that!
Michael continued to melt our hearts by saying: 'I guess the best thing about us is that there's no pretense- I am me and she is her and that's how we ended up together. I think if I was pretending to be somebody and she fell in love with that, I would have had a problem and vice versa.
'I think we know each other very well and it's maintaining the truth around who we are to ourselves is probably the answer.'
Michael, 51, and Davina, 56, are no strangers to blended families, the hairstylist is father to two sons and the TV presenter is mother to two daughters and one son.
However, the hairdresser revealed that navigating their relationship with each other's children has always been 'very straight forward.'
Michael said: 'Our kids are all grown up, they're gone- my kids, one of them lives with his boyfriend, Davina's got a daughter who lives in Manchester and another one who lives in Australia, so no there's no complications really, it's very straight forward.'
Recently, Davina opened up to MailOnline about how grateful she was to have met someone later in life as 'divorced women don't get invited to dinner parties.'
Agreeing with her point, Michael added that he believes men too suffer from exclusion, but for different reasons.
Answering whether he thinks it is the same for men, Michael said: 'I do actually yes, I mean I guess it's the idea of the man being a predator you know. This idea that a single man at a dinner party surrounded by all these wives might be a tricky environment for somebody, I think when you're in a couple, it's easier to go out with other couples definitely.'
Being with a hairdresser certainly has its perks and Michael is fully aware of how lucky Davina is! The father-of-two said: 'Davina works on two or three TV shows that don't have the budget for hair and makeup and so she has to do it herself. If I'm around I'll say, "well I'll blow-dry your hair before work", but often she's got to do it herself.
'If I'm honest, she was a lot of the inspiration behind my mdlondon business, I was trying to find the best way she could do her own hair in ten minutes, that was worthy of going on HD television'- he loved her to the point of creation, it's too much!
Speaking about who his favourite clients have been over his successful career, Michael admitted: 'Well obviously Davina has been a joy to work with and very inspiring, but I loved working with musicians, especially popstars who are so different to actors or presenters, they're just more artistic I think.
'I used to do Kylie and Dani Minogue's hair back in the day and that was really fun, their makeup and glam team were really good fun too, so probably Kylie.'
