Mick Wallace's son has passed away at the age of 30 following a short illness.
The former MEP's youngest son, Joseph Barry Wallace, died in Tallaght Hospital on Thursday surrounded by his family.
Joe, as he was known, is survived by his parents Mick and Patricia and his siblings Gráinne, Fionn and Sasha.
The death notice also mentions his girlfriend, Rheanna, as well as extended family and friends.
Joe was a former player with Wexford FC, the club that was founded by his father.
In a post on social media, the club paid tribute, saying: "We are desperately saddened to hear of the passing of our former player and son of Mick, Joe Barry Wallace.
"We send our deepest sympathies to the Wallace and Barry families and all of his friends and clubmates."
Some of Mick Wallace's colleagues have passed on their condolences including MEPs Maria Walsh and Séan Kelly.
Mr Kelly said the news was "shocking" and said that Joe was a very bright and talented young man.
Joe will be reposing at Fanagans Home in Dundrum ahead of his funeral which will take place in the Victorian Chapel, Mount Jerome on Saturday afternoon at 4pm.
