Cleaning guru Mrs Hinch has offered a "genius" hack for sprucing up your wedding and engagement rings with a simple household ingredient.

Mrs Hinch, also known as Sophie Hinchliffe, took to Instagram to reveal her genius hack involving two simple household ingredients. Very little elbow grease is required for the solution as you simply leave the rings in a bath of white vinegar and bicarbonate of soda. Captioning her first video, she wrote: "Quickly popping my jewellery in a bicarb bath for a clean." Mrs Hinch then shared the exact measurements and timings, saying: "Mixture of ½ cup white vinegar and 2 tablespoons of bicarb for two to three hours."

Next, you should "rinse them under cold water and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth". After doing so, the concoction will start fizzing up. Mrs Hinch combats the reaction by covering the bowl with a cloth. She shared a before and after photo of the two rings and two brooches and the results speak for themselves - they look as good as new.

The trick involves placing the jewellery in a bath of vinegar and bicarbonate of soda (

The acidity in the white vinegar effectively dissolves the dirt and bacteria from the item without tarnishing or removing its shine. The bicarbonate of soda then reacts with the vinegar to cut through grease and return its original shine. Earlier today, we shared another of Mrs Hinch's genius cleaning tricks for one of the most frustrating issues Brit homeowners can face - stubborn toilet stains. Shocking research has revealed that 14 percent of Brits don’t use cleaning products on their bathroom, while 48 percent only pay attention to it when they've got guests coming over. However, neglecting the toilet can lead to unsightly stains and scaling, which is caused by a build-up of limescale - which is predominantly made up of calcium and magnesium.

This limescale accumulates over time, affecting the flow and drainage of water, warns Tissino. It’s not only difficult to remove hard water over time, but it can also spoil the pristine bathroom effect that many of us long for. This was the unfortunate case for one member of the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook page, who reached out to fellow users for advice. Posting to the group, they wrote: "What’s the best way of getting rid of hard water/rust stains in the toilet?"

More than 150 members took to the comments to share their suggestions, but one popular product was mentioned on numerous occasions. One helpful user penned: "Harpic 10x black bottle bleach, it’s amazing. Put it all over and leave for two to three hours or longer and brush. You can put some more on and leave again for an hour and brush and flush. It might need another going over."

The comment received 38 positive reactions, as another replied: "I agree," while a third echoed: "Another vote for black Harpic." A fourth accompanied their comment with a picture of the product, writing: "100%, leave it on overnight and it’ll be gone in the morning. ""Black Harpic, but if it’s really stubborn a Harpic tablet," recommended another. While a sixth shared: "Harpic black and leave it overnight if possible, it’s amazing stuff."
