10:51 am EDT:Evans Chebet (KEN), Abdi Negeeye (NED) and Geoffrey Kamworor (KEN) have dropped Tamirat Tola (ETH). Tola is about four seconds back as they move past the 35k mark. They covered that last 3K at a clip of 4:37 mile pace.
10:48 am EDT:Tefiri and Chumba have dropped from the lead three in the women's race. Hellen Obiri, Sheila Chepkirui and Vivian Cheruiyot continue to press.
Obiri and Chepkirui are looking particularly strong, but Cheruiyot hasn't lost a step.
10:44 am EDT:The Men have hit the 20 mile mark. Tamirat Tola (ETH) leads four other men through in 1:38:17. Conner Mantz is the Top American. He is in seventh, 25 seconds back from the lead.
Clayton Young (USA) is in 9th and Teshome Mekonen (USA) is in 10th. They are 16 seconds behind Mantz.
10:34 am EDT:20 miles in (32k) and the women's race continues to separate. They hit that split in 1:52:16 and there were still 10 women in the pack at that point.
However, that group has since split off. Five women remain in the lead group; Hellen Obiri (Ken), Senbere Teferi (ETH), Sheila Chepkirui (KEN), Vivian Cheruiyot (KEN) and Eunice Chumba.
Sara Vaughn (USA) is in seventh about 16-seconds back from the lead. Jessica McClain and Kellyn Taylor are the next Americans in 11th and 12th.
10:27 am EDT:Another move has been made in the men's race. Tamirat Tola has decided that enough is enough. He has injected a good amount of pace and four additional men have responded to the move.
It looks like Albert Korir, Evans Chebet and few other have responded. Mantz, Young and Albertson are all off the back. We are trying to see if there are any other Americans in that lead group.
10:25 am EDT:The women hit the 30K mark in 1:44:47. They were running 5:26 pace over that last 5K which is the fastest split of the day. Sheila Chepkirui (KEN) continues to lead. The pack has dwindled to 10 women and Sara Vaughn is the only American in that group.
10:18 am EDT:The men come through the half-way point in 1:05:33. Addisu Gobena (ETH) is the first runner through that split. There are seven Americans within seven second of the leader: Conner Mantz (10th), Teshome Mekonen (11th), Clayton Young (13th), Elkanah Kibet (14th), CJ Albertson (15th), and Frank Lara (16th).
Frank Lara jumps out to a lead on the bridge.
10:12 am EDT:The women's race is finally becoming a race. They're getting more aggressive and Sara Vaughn (USA) is pushing the pace. All of the main contenders are still in it.
10:10 am EDT:The men's pace is certainly swift. Tamirat Tola (ETH) is now leading. The pack has been demolished. There is a small group of men out front, but behind them they're single file.
They are approaching the half-marathon mark. Conner Mantz and Clayton Young are still with the leaders.
10:01 am EDT:The Professional Women are content with running in a pack. We have a championship style race and they are on 2:28 pace after 25k.
The pace slowed again over that last 5K. They were hitting 5:45 splits which is just under 18-flat pace for 5K.
9:58 am EDT:A move has been made in the mens race. Abel Kipchumba (KEN) is pushing hard and the field is stringing out quick. It looks like Conner Mantz (USA) and Clayton Young (USA) have responded to the move. Albert Korir (KEN) and others are in the breakaway group as well.
They are approaching the 20k mark after splitting 46:54 through 15k.
9:51 am EDT - Women's Wheelchair FinishSusannah Scaroni (USA) demolishes the field to win the women's wheelchair race! She finishes in 1:48:05. The next racer is over eight minutes back.
Tatyana McFadden (USA) finishes second in 1:58:47 and Manuela Schar (SUI) finishes third in 1:59:20.
9:48 am EDT:The pro-women come through the half-way mark. No one has made a decisive move yet and Sheila Chepkirui (KEN) leads. They split 1:13:59.
We'd expect the pace to heat up quickly in the second-half. 21 women in the pace group.
9:40 am EDT - Men's Wheelchair FinishDaniel Romanchuk (USA) wins the men's professional wheelchair race. He crosses the line in 1:36:31. David Weir (GBR) is only five seconds back, and Tomoki Suzuki (JPN) finishes third in 1:36:44.
9:38 am EDT:Elkanah Kibet (USA) lead the men's field through the first 10k. The leaders split 31:27 at that mark.
There are well over 25 men in that group.
9:31 am EDT:The lead women split 52:37 through the 15k mark.
Hellen Obiri (KEN) continues to lead. The lead pack is now only 20 women.
There are 8 American women in the first group. Sara Vaughn, Kellyn Taylor, Dakotah Popehn, Savannah Berry, Jenny Simpson, Jessica McClain and Des Linden are all within 3-seconds of the leader.
9:30 am EDT:The Men's field is starting to string out a little bit. Rory Linkletter (CAN) pushes out and CJ Albertson (USA) follows his charge.
The pack then lets them get away for a brief instant before closing back up on them.
9:27 am EDT:Jenny Simpson goes to the lead in the Women' Marathon. The rest of the field lets her have a moment and she jumps out to a 3 meter lead in front of the pack.
She then sinks back into the back, but it was a special moment.
9:22 am EDT:Conner Mantz (USA) leads the men through the opening 5k. They split 15:59 over the first 3.1 miles.
Abel Kipchumba (KEN) and Albert Korir (KEN) are right there on his shoulder. There are over 25 men within five seconds.
9:17 am EDT:Senbere Teferi (ETH) has now gone to the lead in the women's race. The second 5k was much faster than the first. They could be ramping things up now.
9:11 am EDT:There are still over 20 women in the lead pack. They came through the first 10k. Hellen Obiri (KEN) leads the pack through in 35:24. Senbere Teferi (ETH) and Dera Dida (ETH) sit right on her shoulder.
Plenty of American Women are still in the lead pack.
9:07 am EDT:Conner Mantz (USA) is not playing games in the pack. Four men have jumped out to a 50 meter lead in the first half-mile. Mantz is joined by three others.
9:05 am EDT:The professional men's race is officially underway.
8:54 am EDT:Des Linden (USA) leads through the first 5k. They go 18:16 through the first 5km, a relatively slow pace for these women. Over 25 women are within 6 seconds.
8:47 am EDT:The women's pack is still together. No one is daring to push early. They are about 13-minutes in and there are 20 women in the lead pack. The pace still looks relatively pedestrian compared to what some of these lead women are capable of.
8:42 am EDT:Daniel Romanchuk (USA) trails Marcel Hug (SUI) in the men's wheelchair division. They came through 15k in 33:22. On the women's side Susannah Scaroni (USA) leads Tatyana McFadden (USA).
8:35 am EDT:The professional women's race is officially underway and a loaded field of women begin to climb the initial bridge climb. The start looks relatively conservative.
8:26 am EDT:The hand-cycle division gets underway.
8:02 am EDT:The professional men's wheelchair races get underway at 8:00 a.m. sharp. The women's race got underway at 8:02 am.
