Olivia Henson looked every inch a Grosvenor bride in her Emma Victoria Payne wedding dress as she walked into Chester Cathedral for her wedding day this afternoon. In another touching gesture to her new family, the soon to be wife of Hugh Grosvenor, 7th Duke of Westminster’s family, Olivia donned the Fabergé Myrtle Leaf Tiara, a favourite of the centuries-old dynasty.

And accompanying her down the aisle? Her new nieces. Isla van Cutsem, nine, daughter of Lady Tamara Grosvenor and Edward van Cutsem joined Zia Snow, 14, and her younger sister Orla, nine, as flower girls during Olivia’s big day.

The three flower girls looked to be enjoying the pomp and circumstance of the ‘society wedding of the year’ as they carried bouquets and wore floral headpieces outside Chester Cathedral this afternoon. In one lovely detail, the flower girls wore blue navy pumps to match the colour of the bride’s own heels.

Isla’s parents will have watched on with pride as she walked down the aisle. No doubt Lady Tamara Grosvenor and Edward van Cutsem were feeling nostalgic, perhaps remembering their own wedding day in Chester Cathedral, ten years ago.

Prince William was an usher at that Grosvenor wedding, too. The Prince of Wales is reprising his role today for his good friend ‘Hughie’, the Duke of Westminster.

Isla van Cutsem is the only daughter of Lady Tamara and Edward, who have two sons: Jake Louis Hannibal van Cutsem, 15, and Louis Hugh Lupus van Cutsem, 12. Meanwhile Zia and Orla’s parents, Lady Edwina Grosvenor and Dan Snow, were on hand to lend family support at the wedding rehearsals yesterday. A local resident said the Duke of Westminster looked ‘pale and nervous’ as he ran through the ceremony with a ‘radiant’ Olivia Henson, Lady Edwina, Dan Snow, and their children.

Lady Tamara and Dan chose to forgo the coverage that comes with a Grosvenor family wedding, opting instead for a low-key secret ceremony at Bishop’s Lodge in Liverpool back in 2010. ‘Neither of us has ever wanted a big white wedding,’ the couple told the Daily Mail at the time.

Historian Dan spent Wednesday presenting the BBC’s coverage of the D-Day commemoration events in Portsmouth. Seeing his daughters, Zia and Orla, and his niece Isla welcome Olivia Henson into the Grosvenor family will no doubt have felt worth the journey!
