Padraig Harrington took home a staggering amount of money for finishing second at the SAS Championship on the PGA Champions Tour.

The Dubliner walked away with a cheque worth $184,800 for his week's work after losing out on the title by one stroke behind winner Jerry Kelly, who took home a massive $315,000 for his victory.

Despite adding almost $200,000 to his net worth, Harrington will be fuming at his inability to win the tournament on Sunday. The Dubliner held a three-stroke lead heading into the final round in North Carolina, and while he shot one-under on Sunday, he was unable to catch Kelly, whose final round of 67 handed him the one-stroke win.

Having made Birdie on 17 to get himself in a tie for the lead, an errant tee-shot found the rough on 18 and Harrington was left scrambling to try and make Par to force a play-off. A 12-footer for four lipped out, handing Kelly his 12th ever win on the Champions Tour.

“It’s a long time coming,” said Kelly after winning, “You wonder if you’re ever going to do it again once the injuries start piling up.”
